Dan Dugan

Dan started in the retail-grocery business as an apprentice meat-cutter for Lucky Stores in Daly City, California.  In 1979, Dan went to work for Safeway as a journey-person meat-cutter in Portland, Oregon. Working at several stores in the West-Portland metro area, Dan was promoted to head meat-cutter.  Always an active and outspoken union member, Dan became a shop steward while he continued his responsible as a head meat-cutter for Safeway. In 1990, Dan joined Local 555's staff as a Union Representative.  Dan has served as a Union Representative working in most of southwest Washington with a great deal of time spent in Clark County.  Dan has also served as a Union Organizer and Representative in Oregon north from Clatskanie, south to Creswell, west from Tillamook to Astoria and east to Sandy. He has represented Local 555 enforcing union contracts, processing grievances, resolving work-place disputes, representing 555 members at unemployment hearings and assisting fellow Local 555 members in a way possible.  Dan's service to Local 555 has not been limited to serving as an Organizer or Representative; he also serves as a delegate to a number of Central Labor Councils, former executive board member to the Northwest Oregon Central Labor Council, previous delegate to different UFCW International Conventions in the United States and Canada.
