Elisa Gonzales has been a UFCW member for almost fifteen years.   For ten years she worked at Fred Meyer as a cashier; five at Hollywood West and five at Division where she created and instructed a Spanish class for all Fred Meyer employees.

Elisa is currently a Union Representative servicing over 1300 members.  Elisa also helps all the representatives with their Spanish speaking members.  Elisa was born and raised in Mexico until she was fourteen, and moved to Portland, Oregon with her parents in 1981.

Elisa saw her parents go through struggles at their workplace and noticed that they had a union working on their side, but there was a language barrier.   Her inspiration has always been to help people especially those from other countries who do not understand their rights in their workplace.

Elisa’s husband is an IBEW union electrician and they have an eighteen year old girl, a sixteen year old boy and the youngest is thirteen year old boy.   Both the boys are very active in sports (baseball, basketball, wrestling, and football.
