Portland Negotiations - Meeting Scheduled PDF Print E-mail

November 19, 2008

The New Leadership of UFCW Local 555 is happy to report that we have been able to get Portland Bargaining back on schedule.  At this time we have Monday November 24 scheduled as an all day bargaining session.  This will be the first opportunity for the new leadership and the bargaining committee to meet officially with the employer representatives and resume the process of bargaining the Portland Area CCK, Grocery, and Meat contracts.

Just as a reminder, the contracts that were scheduled to expire in July, were extended and all members do have a contract.  All the provisions in your contract still apply.

We are committed to getting the very best contract possible and ask everyone to keep checking back for more information.  You may also get updates from our Bargaining Hotline (1-800-452-UFCW ext 361) and on our Bargaining Website www.groceryworkersunited555.org.

Employee Free Choice: NOW! PDF Print E-mail
The Employee Free Choice Act:
  • Helps America’s working families improve their standard of living. Workers in unions earn 30 percent higher wages and are 59 percent more likely to have employer-provided health insurance.
  • Fixes a broken system that gives corporations far too much power. When workers try and organize unions, they are often harassed and intimidated; 25 percent of companies unlawfully fire pro-union workers.
  • Restores fairness and the promise of the American Dream, with a robust middle class, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

It’s time our economy worked for everyone again. It’s time for the Employee Free Choice Act.
