Presidents Message

UFCW Local 555 represents over 17,000 workers within our jurisdiction, from as far north as Kelso, Washington, south to Brookings on the coast, to Lakeview in Southeastern Oregon, and east to Burns and Pendleton, Oregon.

The UFCW Local 555 membership works in various industries from retail sales, health care, meat, poultry, pork and seafood processing, garment making, boot making, warehouses, hair care providers, law offices, and numerous other professions.

The geographic and industry diversity of UFCW Local 555 has provided the UFCW Local 555 membership a very unique and significant base which has translated into enormous strength and solidarity as a labor union.

Membership involvement and participation is a high priority at UFCW Local 555.  Quarterly Membership meetings are held throughout our jurisdiction, usually in the morning and evening, to increase opportunities for participation.

The UFCW Local 555 Steward Program is designed to educate, inform, motivate, and activate members.  Informed members that understand the importance of concerted activity and that are willing to be workplace leaders are the key to UFCW Local 555 being a strong, and responsive union.

If you are a member of UFCW Local 555, I encourage you to use this website as a resource to increase your knowledge and awareness of your union.  Please let me know your thoughts, your concerns, and your needs, so that I may better serve you.

If you are not a union member, I invite you to check out the website and maybe you'll learn how beneficial union representation can be at your work site.  A union contract is a powerful document to provide and to protect safe and decent working conditions, fair and reasonable wages, and provide security to your family in pensions and health insurance.

Once again, welcome to UFCW Local 555 and enjoy your visit.  Feel free to contact our professional staff with your questions and concerns, or to secure additional information.

In Unionism,

Gene Pronovost, Union President
International Vice President
